If you want an all around great type of firewood that can heat, cook and smoke… then look no further than our blend of maple firewood; It burns hot and long, with verities that start easily and some that are a little tougher but have a longer burn time. Our maple firewood is made from a blend of all the major verities found locally here in middle Tennessee, including both hard and soft maple verities. Maple verities include: silver maple, water maple, sugar maple, and rock hard maple. Silver maple and water maple are both soft maple verities which come in at roughly 19 million BTUs per cord (3 Ricks), while sugar maple comes in at 26 million BTUs, and finally rock hard maple comes in at 32 million BTUs which makes it tied for 1st place of the hardest woods in the 48 continental US states which it shares with Osage Orange (aka Bodock, Hedge Apple). So if you’re wanting a nice blend of hardwoods with some for shorter fires and others that are better for longer fires maple is where its at.
Pro Tip: Softer maple verities will topically be more white in color and be lighter in weight than the hard maples which are usually more of a darker peachy color and weigh about 50% more than softer maples. So if you need a shorter fire and want it to be easy to light then start your fire with a soft maple verity. If you are needing a longer fire or a hotter bed of coals you might want to use a hard maple verity.
